KARACHI: Five men shot dead

KARACHI, July 7: Five persons were shot dead in the city on Sunday.

Two young men were shod dead in a petty dispute in Mehmoodabad.

The police said that Shaukat had rented out a portion of his house in street No 4 in Akhtar Colony, to Dr Abdullah. On Sunday, Dr Abdullah had an argument with Shaukat. Two neighbours, Zeeshan Amir, aged 23, and Mohammed Nawaz, aged 24, tried to pacify them. However, the argument turned violent and Dr Abdullah and his son Subhan Ali fetched their pistols and opened fired on Zeeshan and Nawaz. They died on the spot. The bodies were sent to a hospital for autopsy.

Dr Abdullah confined himself to his house after the killings and called the police and rangers, who arrived there. Dr Abdullah claimed that the two men attacked his house and he opened fire in self-defence.

Residents protested against the killing of the young men. They put the bodies in the middle of the road and demanded registration of a murder case against Dr Abdullah and his son. After three hours of protest demonstration, the police assured the area residents that an FIR under section 302 of PPC would be registered against the suspected killers. The protesters dispersed peacefully.

A man and his two sons were shot dead in a family dispute in Pathan Colony, SITE area.

The police said that Juma Gul, aged 75, was to marry his daughter with his brother’s son Raifullah. His daughter fell ill and Rafi broke the engagement. But when the girl recovered, Rafi wanted to marry Juma’s daughter, but Juma turned down his proposal.

Rafi did not like the rejection of his proposal. On Sunday morning he and his brother Sanaullah entered Juma’s house, opened indiscriminate fire on those present there and escaped. Juma’s two sons, Mohammed Zahid, aged 22, and Mohammed Anwar, aged 28, died on the spot. Juma, his daughter Taj Begum, aged 16, and another son Mohammed Tahir were wounded.

The bodies were sent to a hospital for post-mortem.

The injured were admitted to a hospital where Juma died.

BODY FOUND: Bullet-riddled body of a man was found at a garbage dump in Surjani Town on Sunday.

The police said that the body, found at a garbage dump in Chakar goth, was sent to a hospital for autopsy where the man’s identity could not be established immediately.

ARRESTS: The police arrested two activists of the Harkatul Mujahideen in Liaquatabad on Sunday, and recovered two revolvers from their possession.

The police said that they raided a hideout and arrested Mohammed Mohsin and Mohammed Suleman following recovery of two revolvers from them. They were also charged with receiving training in militancy and taking part in “jihad.”
