HYDERABAD, July 7: A meeting of the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD), held here on Sunday lashed out at the authorities for trying to sabotage the workers’ convention which was scheduled to be held at Qasimabad on Monday (July 8).
The meeting has decided to shift the venue of the convention to Gujjar House, opposite Nara Jail gate in the Site area at 4pm on the same day.
The meeting regretted that the local administration, ‘at the instance of its masters’, had bypassed the orders of the Zila Nazim and demolished the stage.
The local ARD leaders said that the central leadership of the alliance decided to shift the venue to avoid a confrontation with the authorities.
The meeting was attended by the provincial general secretary of ARD, Zain Ansari, besides Makhdoom Shahnawaz, Maula Bux Chandio, Zahid Ali Bhurgari, Rais Allah Bux Magsi and others.
The central ARD leaders, Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan, Makhdoom Muhammad Amin Fahim, Raja Zafarullah Haq, Nisar Khuhro and others will speak at the convention.
COURT CLERK: About a dozen residents of Sobiar, Kharo Bajir, Kotrio and other villages of Tharparkar district staged token hunger strike outside the press club here on Sunday against the alleged excesses of a clerk of the Sessions Court, Mithi, Maula Bux Bajir.
Talking to newsmen, the villagers, Muhammad Hassan and others accused the clerk of taking undue advantage of his influence and sheltering criminals.
They claimed that some members of his Bajir clan, at a press conference at the Mithi press club, had exposed him which had annoyed the clerk.
Reacting over the press conference, they added, Bajir manipulated some events to file false cases in the court of the Civil Judge, Mithi, against certain innocent persons.
They appealed to the governor, chief secretary and other high officials of provincial government to suspend the clerk and order a judicial inquiry into the his misdeeds.
