ISLAMABAD, July 6: The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) on Saturday announced the Secondary School Certificate Part-I (Class 9th) annual examination 2002 results with 48.6 per cent pass percentage.

Out of a total of 53,903 candidates who appeared in the examinations, 26,224 candidates passed all the five subjects, 9,592 could clear only four subjects and 1,919 students failed to clear even a single paper.

The FBISE has announced that students who have failed to clear the exam can re-appear alongwith SSC Part II annual examination in 2003.

According to the statistics, 50,843 students appeared as regular candidates out of which 25,716 were declared successful. Out of the total number of students who passed, 13,124 were boys and 12,592 girls. Similarly, 3,060 candidates appeared as private candidates out of which only 508 passed.

The number of regular candidates who appeared in science subjects was 38,768, but only 22,585 cleared the papers. Similarly, 12,075 regular students appeared in the general group out of which only 3,131 passed.

As many as 13,009 regular students appeared from the federal area out of which 5,801 passed; 20,165 appeared from different educational institutions of the Punjab of which 12,068 passed and 1,858 regular candidates appeared from Sindh out of which 1,176 remained successful. Similarly, 2,115 regular candidates from the NWFP passed out of the total of 3,539; 897 appeared from Balochistan of which 419 passed and 1,400 passed from the Northern Areas out of 6,694 candidates. As many as 2,737 passed out of a total of 4,681 regular candidates who appeared from overseas.

About 68 cases of unfair means have been reported to the FBISE which are being processed by offering the right of personal hearing to the students who indulged in cheating, while results of 21 students have been withheld for different reasons.

Out of a total of 53,903 candidates, 7,649 candidates passed only three subjects, 5,460 candidates passed two subjects and 2,928 could pass only one subject.

The FBISE has also announced that applications for rechecking of papers should be submitted to the office before August 5 (within 30 days after the declaration of the results).
