BADIN, July 1: Tail-end growers of the Dubi minor blocked the Badin-Karachi highway by observing a sit-in at the Dubi minor bridge on Monday to protest against the water shortage in the area every night.
The farmers came in tractors and blocked the road by parking them on the bridge and observed a sit-in for three hours.
The DCO, Badin, Ahsan, along with the DO (revenue), Mudassar Hussain, went there and asked the protesters to visit his office where they could hold talks. However, the latter refused the offer bluntly.
The district police officer, Ameer Yousufzai, along with a police contingent went there and assured the protesters that their problems would be resolved.
KILLED: A boy, Mumtaz Mallah (13), was killed and three others were injured in an armed clash between two groups of the Mallah community in the Shah Jo Kot village on Sunday night.
The clash started over a land dispute. Guns and axes were used in the clash as a result of which the boy was killed on the spot, while four people were injured.
The injured have been admitted to the Badin Civil Hospital.
The Badin police have registered a case against Soomar Mallah, Quasim Mallah, Khami Mallah, and Siddique Mallah.
POWER CUT: The residents of Matli took to streets on Saturday night to protest against the power breakdown in Bagh locality for the last 27 days and staged a sit-in on the Badin-Hyderabad Road at 11pm, blocking the road for three hours.
