Breaches in two canals flood crops

BADIN, June 30: A 30-foot-wide breach occurred at right bank of the Ghaar Wah on Saturday evening, bringing a huge area of sugarcane and other corps under water.

At the same time, a 35-foot-wide breach occurred in the Mithna Minor on its left bank, which also brought chilly and other crops under knee-deep water.

None of the irrigation official reached the spot nor were the breaches plugged till Sunday noon.

The water flow in both the waterways is said to have been suspended.

Farmers of the area condemned the irrigation officials for their negligence and also reducing the size of modules of watercourses.
