ISLAMABAD, Oct 7: Pakistan Afghan Defence Council (PADC) will announce a ‘holy war’ against the United States within the next 24 hours because of US attacks on Afghanistan, a leader of the council, Maulana Abdul Rashid Ghazi said.

Talking to Dawn on Sunday, Maulana Ghazi, chief of PADC Islamabad, said the possibility of civil war in Pakistan had increased due to the government’s support to the US in its attacks on Afghans.

“As we earlier announced that we will give a call for Jehad (holy war) not only against the US but the government also if bases or airspace of the country is used by the Americans for launching any attack against Afghanistan,” he said.

Replying to a question, he said all Jehadi outfits and religious groups would unite after the attacks and warned that they would not spare any American in the country.

He said not only in Pakistan but Muslims from all over the world would come closer to make a joint strategy to counter US designs and its unfair acts.

“We have already demanded that the US should present evidences before the world if Saudi-born Osama bin Laden was involved in recent acts of terrorism in New York and Washington, but the US who claimed itself a super power took a unilateral action,” he said.

The attacks on Afghanistan were launched from the Arabian Sea and the airspace of the country was used, defence sources said.

Maulana Ghazi said the PADC would meet on Monday to chalk out a strategy.
