HYDERABAD, June 28: The controller of examinations (annual), University of Sindh, on Thursday announced the results of the B.Com (pass) Part I annual examinations 2001.
A total number of 1,333 students appeared in the examination out of which 891 students were declared pass in all subjects while 409 students were declared fail in various subjects. The results of 33 students have been withheld for various reasons.
REFRESHER COURSE: The vice chancellor, University of Sindh, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui said that libraries were the heart and mind of institutes and they must be updated for providing knowledge to the masses.
He was speaking as the chief guest in a certificate distribution ceremony on the concluding day of a two-week refresher course for librarians of various institutes of Hyderabad and Jamshoro on Friday.
It was jointly organized by the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science (IMCS) and the Allama I.I. Qazi Central Library, University of Sindh, under the inter-linkage programme of libraries with the Allama I.I. Qazi Central Library.
The vice chancellor said that young scholars should realize their responsibilities as they were the hopes of the nation.
Prof Asif Ali Qazi and Dr Rafia Ahmed Shaikh expressed their views and highlighted the objectives of the refresher course.
SAFETY DAY: The Wapda Hydroelectric Central Labour Union observed safety day at the labour hall here the other day.
The president of the union, Abdul Lateef Nizamani, presided over the meeting.
Hesco chief engineer Abdul Rasheed Khan said that every year 200 Wapda workers fell prey to various incidents and 100 got disabled in various accidents.
Highlighting the importance of the day, he said that Hesco was trying to ensure availability of all the safety equipments to workers and their training should also be ensured in order to reduce the rate of accidents.
He said that Hesco employees should give due importance to their lives while working.
Mr Nizamani urged the workers to observe all precautionary measures, check all safety equipments, and make sure that the line was off from both the sides.
He said that only the family of a worker was the sufferer in case of his death.
He said like Kesco fit ladders should be provided to Hesco.
