PESHAWAR, June 27: Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) has asked the public sector entities to deposit the principal amount out of the total arrears payable by them by 29th to qualify for getting the late payment surcharge waived off.

Out of the total Rs52 billion amount Wapda owe to recover from the public sector entities involving both the federal and provincial governments’ departments a total of Rs1.671 billion is recoverable in the province.

Out of the Rs1.671 billion arrears from the federal and provincial governments’ departments an amount of Rs518.9 million is on account of late payment surcharge, according to a press release issued by Pesco here on Thursday.

Pesco’s move to announce the above-mentioned concession has come up in line with the Wapda’s decision to waive off the late payment surcharge of all those defaulting public sector institutions who would pay the principal amount of the outstanding payable by them till 29th.

Brig Khalid Khan, chief executive of Pesco, in a press statement, has said the decision had been taken to recover maximum outstanding amount from the public sector departments.

Meanwhile, in a separate press release, Pesco had advised its consumers to observe safety measures against electricity hazards which may confront during the monsoon season.
