GILGIT, June 23: The office-bearers of Northern Areas Customs Clearance Association on Sunday called for resumption of trade through the Sost border, where the business activities have been halted owing to the tussle between the traders and the officials over the customs tariff.

The association’s members had unanimously elected Fazal Haque, Jafarullah Khan and Mirbaz Ali as its president, senior vice-president and general secretary respectively.

At a press conference, the office-bearers said they would serve as a bridge between the traders and the government.

They demanded withdrawal of the taxes levied recently.
