PESHAWAR, June 20: Former chief minister of the NWFP, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, has criticized the government for charging PML-N leader Syed Zafar Ali Shah and other political workers under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
In a press release issued here on Wednesday, Mr Sherpao expressed his anguish over the detention of PML leader and feared that it would worsen the political crisis in the country.
He said the police had baton charged the peaceful rally of the PML workers in Islamabad, which would further pollute the political environment. He demanded of the government to withdraw cases against the PML activists and release them immediately.
MEETING: The acting US principal officer in Peshawar, Ms Angie Bryan, called on Mr Sherpao today and discussed with him various matters, including regional issues, said the press release.
