HYDERABAD, June 19: A large number of residents of Liaquat Medial University Colony, Jamshoro, including women and children, staged a protest demonstration at the Jamshoro railway crossing and blocked the Indus Highway for quite sometime here on Wednesday.

They were protesting against the disconnection of power supply to the residential colony.

Addressing the rally, Ghulam Rasool Qureshi and Ms Khursheed Begum severely criticised Hesco and the university administration for the disconnection of power supply.

It may be pointed out here that the power supply to the colony was disconnected two days back for non-payment of Hesco dues which amounted to Rs1.8 million.

TRAINING: A total number of 320 male and female secondary school teachers of Hyderabad District will be provided basic computer programme training during the current summer vacation of educational institutions.

This was stated by the district education officer, Hyderabad, for technical, Syed Irshad Ahmed Shah Bukhari, while giving an orientation to the second group of trainees at the Government College of Technology, Hyderabad, on Wednesday.

He said that the government was keen to raise the computer literacy rate by introducing computer education at every educational institution.

Mr Shah further informed that besides computer know-how, other skill-development programmes were also being introduced at every technical centre to reduce the unemployment from the society.

About the computer-skill programme, he said that fortnightly sessions had been arranged in which 40 male and 40 female teachers would be provided training in each session during the summer vacations.

He said that the introduction of computer education at the government institutions would encourage poor students towards computer literacy and would play a vital role in institutional development.

LAW COLLEGE EXAM: The principal of the Government Sindh Law College, Hyderabad, Prof Ahmad Ali Shaikh, announced that the controller of examinations (annual), University of Sindh, Jamshoro, had informed that the date to submit examination forms of LLB part-I, II and III had been extended up to June 24.
