Hasan Raza Zaidi, his brother Ali Raza Zaidi and cousin Raza Haider, aged between 18 and 22 years, were shot dead by three motorcycle riders in the new Multan area when they were coming out of a mosque after saying Isha prayer.
Hundreds of people from all walks of life gathered on Khanewal road on Tuesday evening to offer funeral prayers. They chanted slogans against the government for its failure to maintain law and order.
Funerals were taken out from Jamia Saqlain on the Khanewal Road. Some of the participants threw stones at the Daewoo bus service terminal damaging the recently built building. Though, a heavy police contingent was on deployed there, they did not try to stop the angry mob.
Near Kumharanwala Chowk, the people damaged a hotel and a private hospital buildings. When police tried to stop them, the people started stoning them.
After the funeral prayers, the violent mob set on fire a Wapda truck load of electric wires which was parked at a warehouse.
The angry people ransacked the Gulshan market which was closed to mourn the deaths. The market situated close to Masjid Al-Husaini where the youth were to be buried. They broke the doors of the shops and pull down hoardings and signboards.
When shopkeepers heard the news, they rushed to the spot and argued with the protesters. A clash was averted due to police intervention.
The people beat up photographers of some local newspapers and broke their cameras.
