LAHORE, June 12: Over 60,000 families living in kutcha abadis in the Punjab have been granted ownership rights during the past one year and cases of another 30,000 are under process.
The information was given at a meeting held here on Wednesday with Punjab chief secretary Imtiaz Masrur in the chair. The additional chief secretary, secretaries of housing, local government, education and health departments, LDA director general, Lahore district coordination officer, and the Punjab kutcha abadis director general attended the meeting.
The CS was informed that of the 178,932 families living in 937 recognized kutcha abadis in the Punjab, over 76,000 had been granted ownership rights so far. The CS directed that steps should be taken to grant ownership rights to the remaining families within a few months.
