Exchange of fire across LoC flayed

MUZAFFARABAD, June 8: The chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Amanullah Khan, has condemned the exchange of fire by the Indian and Pakistani troops along the Line of Control in Kashmir, and asked both of the neighbours to stop this practice on humanitarian basis.

“The tragic aspect of firing between India and Pakistan is that the only Kashmiris become victims on either side of the LoC,” he said in a statement on Saturday.

“When the Indians resort to shelling, civilians in Azad Kashmir — mostly women, children and elderly persons, become the victim while on the other side of the LoC the same Kashmiri Muslims become target of the firing,” he said.

Front’s chief called upon the international community, and the civil and military leadership in India and Pakistan to look into this situation to help stop the killing of innocent civilians.
