Smuggled tea seized

PESHAWAR, June 7: The custom intelligence seized smuggled tea involving customs and freight value of Rs1.7 million on Chashma Road, Dera Ismail Khan, according to a press release issued here on Friday.

Acting on a tip-off from an informant that non-duty paid tea was being transported to down country, the customs authorities blocked Chashma Road near D.I.Khan.

The customs stopped an oil tanker (SA-6893) and seized 7,824kgs of tea contained in 110 bags. The vehicle too was impounded.
