PESHAWAR, June 7: A day of protest was observed on Friday in major towns and cities in the province by the Islami Jamiat-i-Talba (IJT), NWFP against the government’s Kashmir policy.

After the Friday prayers, rallies and processions were held in Peshawar, Mardan, Mingora and Dera Ismail Khan. The speakers criticized the government’s handling of the Kashmir crisis. “If Musharraf’s government compromised on the fate of Kashmiris, the IJT would launch a movement against it,” the IJT leaders and workers said.—Correspondent
