ISLAMABAD, March 24: The exiled prime minister and chief of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), Nawaz Sharif, has urged the nation to launch joint struggle against the military dictatorship and ‘usurpers’ of their rights.
In a message from Jeddah, released here on Sunday on the occasion of Ashoora, he said every Yazid of his time considered himself a successful man though he was destined to meet eternal ignominy and humiliation.
He said, “the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) gives us the lesson that a usurper and a characterless man can never be the leader of the faithful, and if it happens, the faithful are religiously bound to stand against him.”
The PML-N president said Imam Hussain had no personal score to settle with Yazid or get some material benefit but he believed that it was right of the people to elect their leader in an environment free from coercions, threat and intimidation and that their leader should be dynamic and possess a strong character.— Our Reporter
