BAJAUR, Nov 29: Though the border has been closed, Afghans, fleeing fighting in their country, are trickling into Bajaur Agency.
Recently, former Taliban governors of three eastern provinces of Afghanistan, including Nangarhar, Kunar and Laghman, also arrived here recently through unmanned routes.
Other former Taliban high-ups, who were said to have taken refuge in the agency, included agriculture minister Maulvi Shakirullah, minister for frontiers Maulana Abdullah, intelligence director Maulvi Wali Mohammad, education minister Maulana Subhanullah, intelligence deputy director, jalalabad, Qari Noor Zaman and directorm ,vice and virtue department, Maulvi Assadullah.
Some of them are said to be staying in the tribal territory, while some others have reportedly left for other place in the country.
Meanwhile, the tri-colour flag of the Northern Alliance has been hoisted on the Afghan side, across the Ghaani Pass, after five years.
The new rulers of Afghanistan have tightened security on the border along the Bajaur Agency by deploying more troops there. .
According to information, thousands of Afghans have taken shelter in Bajaur Agency since US aistrikes on Afghanistan began.
Only on Wednesday, around 400 new Afghan refugees arrived in the agency through unfrequented routes, sources said.
