KARACHI, Nov 27: The Selection Board for Karachi-based candidates, seeking admission to first year MBBS classes at Dow Medical College and Sindh Medical College, has released the provisional merit list.
An official of the board said the list comprised 2290 candidates who had appeared in the entrance test conducted by the Institute of Business Administration on Nov 15. Objections on the list would be received up to Dec 8, while final merit list would be released on Dec 14, the official added.
The provisional list began with Rabeeya Saeed, test seat No 2300, who scored 85.41 out of 100. Admissions list in the case of DMC closed at the score of 73.99.
The list for admissions at the SMC began with the score of 73.95 and closed at 70.20. The complete list of candidates would be displayed at the main gate of Dow Medical College on Wednesday morning.
Maximum number of seats, out of 414 (246 for DMC and 168 for SMC), went to female candidates. Candidates having secured B- grade in the HSC examinations have also qualified for the admission.
In all, 13 B-graders have been listed for the DMC and five for the SMC.
The selection board official pointed out that there were many tie cases between two or more than two candidates. As per admission rules the candidates securing higher marks in the intermediate examination had been ranked higher in the merit for purpose of admission.
In the case where the inter marks of two or more were equal, the candidates securing higher marks in Matriculation has been ranked higher in merit and where the matric marks of the two or more than two candidates were also found equal then the candidates older in age were ranked higher in the merit, added the official.
The first ten names in the provisional list included nine that of A-1 graders and 1-A graders. Out of 480 candidates, 35 belonged to Islamabad or other boards, while 14 were O/A levellers.
