PESHAWAR, Feb 6: The Putktoonkhwa Milli Awami Party has criticised Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal's lawmakers for moving bills in the NWFP Assembly, seeking to ban music, songs and dances.

A press release, issued by the party central secretariat on Sunday, said that the PMAP viewed this move as a serious attempt to undermine Pukhtoon culture and considered it another step by the MMA to erode foundations of Pukhtoon nationality.

The press release said that the provincial government had already adopted Urdu as the official language of the province in suppression of Pushto while no other province had adopted a similar policy. It said that music, song and dance were integral parts of the Pukhtoon culture.
