MITHI, Feb 6: About 140 employees of the Tharparkar district council have appealed to the Sindh chief minister to issue directives for payment of theirsalary dues of three years.

Talking to newsmen here on Sunday, Ghani Samoo, Ghulam Rasool, Jameel Ahmed, Abdul Subhan and Hothiram said the council had allocated Rs3 million for their salary in its 2004-05 budget but they had not been given their dues.

They said their services were terminated or sidelined to surplus in 2001 and since then they were running form pillar to post but in vain. They said new appointments had been made in offices of nazim and naib nazim of the district. They said they should have been re-employed keeping in view their experience. They said their families were facing starvation.

GSTA: The president of the Government Secondary Teachers Association has called upon the Sindh minister for education to take notice of non-payment of four months' salary to 84 teachers of the middle school project in Tharparkar.

Talking to reporters GSTA president Arbab Zulfiqar alleged that the Asian Bank had provided a hefty amount to the DCO for the local education department but schools in the district had not received their annual budget.
