KARACHI, Nov 27: Fifty per cent of new job opportunities generating in the railways in Sindh, including Karachi, will be filled with local youth.

An assurance in this regard was given at a high-level meeting, chaired by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, on Saturday at the Governor's House. The meeting was attended by Railways Minister Mian Shamim Hyder, Sindh Chief Secretary Aslam Sanjrani, Railways Chairman Shakeel Durrani, Nazim Naimatullah Khan, and secretaries of law, finance, land utilization and other officials.

Dr Ibad said that this decision would have positive and far reaching effects in the obtaining unemployment conditions.

The meeting decided that the railway would introduce an experimental service for Runni Kot to facilitate tourists.

The governor said that long-pending issue concerning railway's land had also been resolved. In case of their privatization, he added, the provincial government would get 40 per cent while railways would get 60 per cent share. He further said that the revenue generated from commercialization of railways land would be spent on railways.

The meeting was informed that the Karachi Cantonment railway station was being beautified and equipped with 67 cameras for security at the station. -APP
