LAHORE: Man injured in Rs1m robbery

LAHORE, Oct 19: Dacoits shot at a man in a Rs1 million robbery and made off with cash, gold, valuables and vehicles in other strikes here on Tuesday.

Mohammad Azeem drew Rs1 million from a bank and reached his shop in Naulakha when three gunmen held him hostage. They snatched the money from him and opened fire on resistance. The shopkeeper sustained bullet injuries and was taken to the Mayo Hospital where his condition was stated to be critical.

Akbar told police that six armed men stormed into his house in Nishtar Colony and made off with cash, jewellery and valuables worth Rs800,000.

Sarfraz was deprived of Rs50,000 in cash and a cell phone by two gunmen in Mozang, while Samina was robbed of cash and gold ornaments worth Rs40,000 in the Factory Area.

Two robbers snatched away Rs5,000 and a cell phone from Imran in Allama Iqbal Town.

Two gun-toting men burst into a medical laboratory in Mughalpura and took away Rs15,000 and three cell phones from its staff and a customer.

Two cars and as many motorcycles were either snatched or stolen from various parts of the city.

ARRESTED: Police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested eight robbers and motorcycle-lifters.

The Saddar division police investigation wing claimed that they had apprehended four members of an alleged gang of robbers. The arrested men have been identified as Nadeem, Abdul Razzak, Amjad and Gulzar. They are said to have confessed to committing 50 crimes against property.

Cash, gold ornaments, electronics, a stolen jeep and a motorcycle besides two mausers, three pistol, two rifles and bullets are claimed to have been seized from them.

Old Anarkali police also claimed to have got hold of four motorcycle-lifters. They include Ishfaq, Ghulam Qadir, Shahbaz and Iqbal.

Two stolen motorcycles and three pistols are said to have been recovered from them.
