SRINAGAR, Sept 4: Four people were shot dead in occupied Kashmir overnight and Saturday, while over a dozen Mujahideen were arrested, police said.

Mujahideen shot dead an Indian soldier and wounded two others in a clash in south Kashmir on Saturday.

A police spokesman said at least two of the Mujahideen involved in the attack later sought refuge in a house in Nagabal village, in southern Pulwama district, but managed to escape as darkness set in.

Overnight, Abdul Rashid Dar alias Tariq Aziz, a senior commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, was shot dead, the police spokesman said.

"We are ascertaining who killed Dar," the spokesman said.

"It seems to be a case of intra- or inter-group rivalry," he said.

LEADER HELD: Indian troops on Saturday arrested a leader of the All-Parties Hurriyat Conference, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, who is also chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir People's Movement, says Kashmir Media Service.

He was arrested at Thanamandi in Rajouri district of the occupied Kashmir.

The APHC condemned the arrest and termed it an "act of political vengeance."

Meanwhile, Indian troops killed a Hizbul Mujahideen commander, Abdur Rasheed Dar, in Ratnipora area of Pulwama district.-Agencies
