PESHAWAR, Aug 28: NWFP Governor Iftikhar Hussain Shah has directed all boards of intermediate and secondary education to sponsor admissions of intelligent students in higher educational institutions soon after the declaration of their secondary and inter level results.
He urged the authorities concerned to help talented and deserving candidates and not cause them problems.
Taking cognizance of a point raised by a deserving girl student from Mardan, the governor also directed the board chairmen to adopt a strategy that helped talented students in getting admission to institutions of their choice and relieved them of financial burden.
The governor also desired that efforts be made to accommodate maximum number of top position holders.
He took notice of delay in the issuance of secondary and inter level original certificates to students and instructed the quarters concerned to issue these within three months of the holding of exams.
The governor said that public dealing counters of the boards should be converted into one-window operation in the real sense.
Mr Shah also directed the authorities concerned not to charge certificate verification fee from candidates.
He also asked the authorities to make the dispatch process of candidates' roll numbers transparent and speedy.
The governor also desired that the boards should sponsor sports tournaments in schools.
