Cotton crop in good condition

LAHORE, Aug 28: Punjab Agriculture Minister, Muhammad Arshad Khan Lodhi on Saturday said that the condition of cotton crop in the province is very satisfactory.

Presiding over a meeting of Cotton Crop Management Group (CCMG) at Multan, he urged the growers to be vigilant during the month of September so that they could get a good harvest.

He said that there was no shortage of cotton-specific pesticides, and that the government would deal with all those involved in adulteration of pesticides with iron hands.

Lodhi said that the government would ensure that the growers could get the fixed support price of Rs925 per 40 kg for raw cotton during the upcoming picking season.

Director General, Agriculture Punjab (Extension and Research), Ch. Abdul Ghaffar apprised the meeting about the situation of pest attack in the province with special reference to heliothis, pink worm and army worm.

Director Pest Warning and representatives of growers and pesticide dealers also spoke on the occasion.-APP
