HARIPUR, Aug 21: A young girl and her lover committed suicide together by consuming poison in a remote village of Bandi Labiyal, some 32 kilometres from here, on Saturday.

However, family sources did not disclose the reason behind the collective suicide of the two young lovers who were cousins.

Lodging an FIR of the incident, Mohammad Salim of village Bandi Labial told the Khalabat Township police that his son Muhammad Amin, 19, went out of his home along with cousin Naheeda Jan,

18, daughter of Muhammad Irfan, for cutting grass for buffaloes and after some time the villagers spotted both the cousins were found dead in the fields.

The condition of both bodies suggested that they had consumed some insecticide, which caused their death instantly.

He told the police that both the families had yet to ascertain the reasons which led to collective suicide of the unmarried couple.

Meanwhile, village sources told newsmen that the girl and boy had been in love with each other for quite some time and wanted to get married but their families were opposed to the idea which prompted the lovers to end their lives.
