LAHORE Aug, 21: The first degree college for special children being established in Special House Gulberg, Lahore, will be inaugurated by Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi on Sept 1.

This was disclosed by Special Education Minister Qudsia Lodhi while distributing certificates in a ceremony among special students who completed computer courses here on Saturday.

The courses were completed from Crescent College of Textile and Fashion Designing and Crescent Institute of Special Education running under the aegis of Pakistan Crescent Youth Organization.

The minister said that special children were also inalienable part of society who had right to be educated in all fields. The private sector should lend support to government for imparting training and education to the special segment of society.

The federal government, she said, had decided that special children were eligible to appear in civil services competitions whereas two per cent quota had already been reserved for them.

She stressed the need for providing maximum opportunities to special children for learning skills so that they could become useful citizens.
