TCP receives 6 bids for wheat import

KARACHI, July 31: Twelve parties on Saturday participated in the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) tender for the import of 500,000 tons of soft white or medium hard white wheat.

However, the corporation spokesman said, only six parties gave their bid prices while the remaining six did not file any bid and regretted to participate in the tender.

The remaining six parties offered bids ranging from a minimum of $206.47 per ton to a maximum of $244 per ton.

The bidders include M/s Cargil, USA, Louis Dryfus, USA, Dominion Grains, SA, Switzerland, Australian Wheat Board, Tradeline and M/s Ardent both of UAE.

These parties have offered a total quantity of 535,000 ton. The Purchase and Price Evaluation Committee constituted by the government and headed by the TCP chairman, is scheduled to meet on Sunday, August 1, 2004 to evaluate the offers received and will make decision.
