LAHORE, July 22: MMA vice-president Senator Sajid Mir has demanded constitution of a commission on the Kargil issue so that "real culprits" can be exposed.
The silence of rulers was an indication who the real culprits were, Mr Mir told a meeting of the Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadith here on Thursday.
He said army generals had lost the 1965 war on table and surrendered in 1971. Because of them, soldiers were killed earlier in Kargil and now in Wana, South Waziristan.
He said army dictators Ayub Khan, Yahya Khan and Ziaul Haq had not caused as much damage to the country as Gen Musharraf had done alone.
Meanwhile, the MJAH claims that the senior civil judge of Lahore has issued a status quo order on a petition of MJAH Nazim Maulana Abdul Aziz Hanif against Ibtisam Elahi Zaheer and Mufti Obaidullah.
The judge barred the two from convening a meeting of the party and holding elections and summoned them on July 27 for "illegally" using the party name.
The executive committee has earlier expelled Mr Zaheer and others from the party.
SAAD: Punjab PML-N secretary-general Saad Rafiq has demanded constitution of a commission to probe not only the Kargil issue but also the October 1999 army takeover, Wana operation and allowing India erect fence along the Line of Control.
He alleged at a press conference here on Thursday that a few army generals had planned the Kargil operation for imposing their rule in the country through creating a crisis for the then government.
He regretted that the operation was undertaken at a time when Indian Prime Minister Vajpayee was in Lahore and holding talks on Kashmir.
He claimed that the army takeover was also US-sponsored. Gen Zeini of the US conspired through a few Pakistani generals to dislodge the political government, he said.
Saad said the steps of bombing people in Wana, changes in syllabus and allowing India erect fence along LoC were also taken to appease US authorities.
