Shaukat to fulfil US agenda: JUP

LAHORE, June 27: The JUP (Nifaz-i-Shariat) alleges that the change in federal political setup is being brought about at the behest of the US to accomplish the sole super power's agenda through Shaukat Aziz.

Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday, party chief Engineer Saleemullah alleged that Shaukat Aziz enjoyed the support of a minority whose member had also been nominated in the Council for Islamic Ideology.

The efforts were aimed at changing the blasphemy laws which, he said, would be protected by the masses at all costs like in the past.

He also chided the government for poor law and order and banning MMA leaders from leading a peace march in Karachi.

He said by chairing the National Security Council meeting in uniform, Gen Musharraf had given a message that the constitutional status of parliament and the cabinet was subordinate to the institution of army.

He alleged that by giving non-Nato ally status to Pakistan, the US had got permanent bases for its troops here and wanted to render ineffective and roll back nuclear programme of Islamabad.
