MIRPURKHAS, June 27: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that the revenue, police and irrigation departments will be cleared of black sheep.

He was speaking at a gathering in Jago Bhurri Deh, Samaro area, on Saturday where 40-foot-wide breach had occurred in the Mithrao canal.

He reiterated that improving law and order situation and irrigation system was his top priority.

He directed the irrigation officials to improve their working and said that he would seek help of law enforcement agencies to check water theft.

He said that the field officials of the irrigation department including Beldars, Daroghas and overseers were involved in water theft.

He directed the irrigation authorities to maintain close vigil on the officials and warned that those officials would be taken to task who were found in water theft.

Mr Arbab said that peace march was not the solution to problems of Sindh as peaceful atmosphere could only be established with practical measures aimed at restoring law and order in the province.

He said that he had directed police officials to restore peaceful atmosphere in Sindh.

The chief minister said that he had adopted some good habits of Jam Sadiq, Mumtaz Bhutto and Abdullah Shah in order to successfully run the province.

He said that no body would be allowed to disturb law and order situation. He directed officials to ensure availability of anti-snake venom in the government hospitals in the district and assured the people that doctors holding domicile of Mirpurkhas would be appointed in the district.

He announced Rs100,000 for treatment of a Darogha of Mithrao Canal, Rahim Bux Rind, who had been injured in an armed attack during duty.

Speaking on the occasion, Mirpurkhas District Nazim Shafqat Hussain Shah said that the farmers expected that their problem regarding water shortage would be solve and added that the irrigation system needed massive improvement.

Nara canal Area Water Board director Agha Aijaz informed the chief minister that 40 kutcha houses, 199 acres of land with standing crops and 861 acres of uncultivated lands in three Dehs of Pithoro and Samaro talukas had been inundated due to the breach.

The chief minister and the district nazim also visited the place of breach.

Sindh irrigation secretary Ashfaq Memon and others were present on the occasion.
