KARACHI: Yakjehti rally today

KARACHI, June 5: While the Sindh government completed all arrangements for the 'Yakjehti Rally', Governor Ishratul Ibad has appealed to the people from all walks of life to participate in the event to be held at the Mazar-i-Quaid at 5pm on Sunday.

The rally, being held under the directives of the governor, is aim at fostering unity and harmony among the citizens of Karachi.

Ulema, political leaders, representatives of minorities, intellectuals, sportsmen and artists would be among the participants who will assemble at Khudadad Colony roundabout before marching up to the Mazar-i-Quaid.

Governor Dr Ibad, Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar and City Nazim Niamatullah Khan will lead the rally, according to a handout.

In a statement, Dr Ibad said that Karachi was the jugular vein of the country's economy. He said that Karachi, over the past 18 months, enjoyed a reputation of being a peaceful city. However, he regretted, hostile forces managed to create law and order situation last month.

Meanwhile, the provincial government has made arrangements for special bus service for the participants.

The buses would be available at 3pm at the SESSI Hospital, Landhi; Shama Market, Shah Faisal Colony; SESSI head office, NIPA Chowrangi; Nagan Chowrangi; Punjab Colony; Kulsoom Bai Valika Hospital, SITE; Water Pump, Federal B Area; Karimabad; Teen Talwar, Clifton; and Abdullah Shah Ghazi's Mazar, Clifton.
