KARACHI, April 25: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Qazi Hussain Ahmad urged the government on Sunday to immediately withdraw troops from tribal areas.

He praised the agreement between the government and the tribal elders and said the government should have trust in these people.

Speaking at a Haleem party held at the residence of the late Mushtaq Mirza, the JI chief congratulated the people for taking part in rallies organized by the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal in protest against the army operation in the tribal belt. He called for formation of elected councils in tribal agencies to replace political agents.
