ISLAMABAD, June 1: President Gen Pervez Musharraf appointed on Saturday Justice Munir A. Sheikh acting chief justice of Pakistan for as long as Chief Justice Sheikh Riaz Ahmad will perform the functions of the acting president.

The oath-taking ceremony of Justice Sheikh as the acting chief justice will be held at the Ceremonial Hall of the Supreme Court on Monday. The oath will be administered by Justice Nazim Hussain Siddiqui.—Staff Reporter
