KARACHI: PPP meeting on water crisis

KARACHI, June 1: There is cry for water from Lyari to Kashmore and people ought to prepare for launching a struggle under the banner of the PPP to get water, power and bread.

This was stated by president of the Sindh Peoples Party, Nisar Ahmad Khuhro, while was addressing a public meeting in Kalri under the auspices of the Sindh National Movement on the water crisis in Lyari. The SNF chief Rashid Baloch also announced the merger of his organisation with the PPP on the occasion.

Welcoming the announcement by Rashid Baloch, Mr Khuhro said that by boycotting the unconstitutional presidential referendum the people of Lyari and their elected representatives had proved that Lyari was an impregnable fort of the PPP.

The PPP leader said that those who had been trampling democratic values and had launched a campaign of character assassination of politicians wanted to stage a drama of national solidarity through a photo session but “we will not hold any talks without Benazir Bhutto.

The PPP’s Karachi President, Muzaffar Ali Shujra, urged the people to stand up against those who had turned Lyari into “another Kerbala”. Sardar Nabil Gabol said that people of Lyari were being punished for their affiliation with the PPP.

Habibuddin Junedi said that by economic massacre and usurping basic necessities the government was harming the national integration.

Chairman SNM Abdul Majeed Baloch, announcing the merger of his party with the PPP, expressed confidence in the leadership of Benazir Bhutto and said the PPP was the party which could deliver.
