DHAKA, March 20: Police refused to allow a former president of Bangladesh, Prof Badruddaza Chwodhury, and his supporters to stage a token hunger strike in front of the National Press Club.

Prof Chowdhury, who has recently floated a political platform, announced the daylong hunger strike on March 11 to protest attacks on a rally that day by police and ruling party activists.
