NOWSHERA, May 31: Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Amir Qazi Hussain Ahmad warned on Friday against any compromise on the Kashmir issue.

Speaking at a public meeting at Kheshki, he flayed the statement of President Gen Pervez Musharraf in which he called the militant organisations as terrorist outfits.

He alleged that the president had given the statement to please America, Britain and Israel. Musharraf, he remarked, could not prolong his stay in power by giving such statements.

The JI chief also criticised some political parties for supporting the government stance on Kashmir issue, and added that the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal would launch a movement if the government made any compromise on the core issue of Kashmir.

He urged the people to forge unity against the nefarious designs of the western powers.

Expressing no-confidence in the present Election Commission, Qazi asked the government to constitute an independent election commission to hold free and fair elections in the country. The sitting election commissioner, he claimed, had become controversial and asked the government to appoint an impartial person, otherwise, the Jamaat would not accept the coming election results.

About meeting President Musharraf, he said the MMA central Shoora would make final decision.

Qazi further said that the government was promoting secularism. The Federal Shariat Court, he went on to say, had declared interest an un-Islamic act.
