NEW DELHI, May 31: An unmanned Indian spy plane crashed near Pakistan’s border on Friday during a trial flight along the militarized frontiers, officials here said.
They said the unmanned Nishant aircraft crashed in the deserts of India’s northern state of Rajasthan where New Delhi has deployed its forces amid soaring military tensions with Pakistan.
“It was an experimental flight to test the Nishant in live conditions when it crashed in a village of Jaisalmer district,” an official from the state-run Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) said.
The DRDO described the crash as an accident. —AFP
