WASHINGTON: US President George W. Bush on Thursday touted “progress” on efforts to ‘‘reform’’ the Palestinian Authority and thereby create the “underpinnings” of a state he hopes will live peacefully alongside Israel.

“We are making progress on a strategy that will put the underpinnings of a Palestinian state in place,” he told reporters after meeting at the White House with his cabinet.—AFP
