KARACHI, March 19: The Students? Council installation ceremony of Defence Authority College for Women for the year 2005 was held in the college auditorium here on Saturday. Defence Housing Authority(DHA) Administrator Brig Maqsood Hussain speaking on the occasion congratulated the members of the newly elected council on assumption of their offices and hoped that as students? elected representatives they would abide by the principles of honesty, justice and democratic norms in their dealings. He said that educated women would bring enlightenment and refinement in society and were instrumental in preparing a confident and spirited generation aware of their duties and obligations to the society.
Brig Maqsood appreciated the all round excellent performance of the college in all the fields of activity and described it as a jewel in the crown amongst all the DHA educational institutions. Earlier, Principal Dr Tayyaba Mamoon presented the annual progress report of the college and said that all courses and activities in the college were designed to ensure optimum development of intellectual, spiritual and physical potential of the students to make them dynamic human beings who could deliver and succeed in practical life.
Later the members of the council took the oath of their offices and pledged to uphold the principles of discipline, hard work, equality, unity and justice. Brig Maqsood on the occasion also administered the oath to the members of the newly elected council.
The members of students? council included Hina Ahmed, Sumaiya Marfani, Sana Rafiq, Syeda Fazeelat Jafri, Mahwish Jehangir, Mah Bibi, Zainab Diwan, Nosheen Idrias and Maha Shahzad. At the end the chief guest conferred awards on the students who excelled in academics and other co-curricular activities.?APP
