LAHORE, March 12: District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood has directed the Traffic Engineering and Planning Agency (Tepa) to submit a plan for upgradation of roads around the Liberty Market, Gulberg in view of the growing traffic load.
The Nazim gave the direction to Tepa Chief Engineer Khushhal Khan while presiding over a meeting held at Jinnah Hall here on Saturday to discuss measures for improvement in traffic management in the city.
District Coordination Officer Khalid Sultan also attended the meeting.
He also stressed the need for improvement in traffic management on the Shahrah-i-Quaid-i-Azam and at Jinnah Hospital and Doctors Hospital intersections. He said the Wasa should improve drainage system in Liberty Market to save shoppers from inconvenience during the rainy season.
The Nazim was informed that 80 percent traffic signals in the city had been upgraded and improvement of the remaining 20 percent was in progress. The Tepa has also completed 75 per cent work on the road being built from Shaukat Khanum Hospital to Raiwind Road.
