KARACHI, March 12: The Karachi Transport Ittehad on Saturday announced to defer their March 14 and 15 transport strike for another 20 days following a meeting with Dr Farooq Sattar, MNA of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, and Provincial Transport Minister Mohammed Adil Siddiqi.

President of the KTI Irshad Bukhari said they had postponed their strike after being given assurances in today’s meeting that their demands would be met.

A further line of action by transporters would be announced if their demands are not met this time either, after the postponement period, the KTI chief said.

The transport leader said they had deferred their previous strike call (one announced before March 14, 15) too on assurances by Dr Farooq Sattar and Adil Siddiqi that their demands would be fulfilled. However, that did not happen and they decided to call a strike on March 14, 15. — APP
