FAISALABAD, March 11: The standing committee for public goods and transport of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has expressed concern over increase in petrol prices and urged the government to abolish the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

At a meeting held here on Friday with committee chairman Saleem Akhtar in the chair, it was noted that the OGRA had been raising POL prices fortnightly due to which transporters and the general public were facing financial problems.

The meeting noted that there was no reason to increase prices on a fortnightly basis as there was no trend to raise salaries or even wages of labourers within such a short period. The meeting also urged the government to restore the old system of fixing petrol prices. — Correspondent
