DADU, March 11: Residents of the Chakar Khan Lund village, Dadu taluka, held a protest demonstration on the Indus Highway on Friday to protest against the district investigation police for not arresting killers of a man.
The protesters placed the body of the man, Muharram Khan Lund, on the road and blocked traffic for one hour. Relatives of the deceased, including women and children, carried the Holy Quran.
Speaking on the occasion, Iqbal Ahmad, brother of Mr Lund, said three armed men had snatched a motorcycle from Mr Lund 11 days ago and injured him on his resistance.
He said an FIR was registered against Gul Bahar and his two unidentified accomplices when the Mr Lund succumbed to his injuries.
He criticized police for failing to arrest the accused.
He alleged that a feudal lord was supporting the accused and police had received gratification from the accused party.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Lund’s sons Azeem and Shahabuddin said being influential, the accused were issuing threats to them to withdraw the case.
The protesters dispersed after Dadu TPO Ghulam Nabi Kario and headquarters TPO (investigation) Ghulam Hussain Mastoi assured them that the accused would be arrested in 24 hours.
HUNGER STRIKE: Condition of teachers Amanullah Hingoro, Ali Raza Jamali, Syed Mushtaq Shah and Zaman Soomro further deteriorated on Friday as their hunger strike unto death entered the 11th day.
A special assistant to the Sindh chief minister, Dr Manzoor Ahmad Leghari, visited the hunger strike camp and assured the protesters that salaries of 58 teachers recruited on quota would be released.
