SIALKOT, May 29: Defence of Pakistan is in strong hands and its armed forces and people are fully prepared to combat any Indian aggression.

This was stated by Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool while speaking to villagers on Wednesday during his visit to border villages Raja Harpal and Bajragarhi hit by Indian shelling.

He said Pakistan would not allow it’s territory to be used to launch terror attacks. It would continue to provide moral and diplomatic support to the noble cause of Kashmiris.

He expressed concern over India’s amassing of troops on the borders and the threatening and aggressive statements by its leadership. He said all differences between the two countries should be resolved through talks or other peaceful means as provided in the UN charter.

He said no organization in Pakistan would be allowed to indulge in terrorism in the name of Kashmri.

The governor visited frontline bunkers along the Sialkot working boundary. He also visited the CMH and inquired after the health of Indian shelling victims.

He distributed compensation cheques among the families of martyrs and the injured. He also announced a special relief package for affected farmers of 95 border villages. Under this package, the provincial government would give a compensation of Rs3,000 per acre to every affected farmer.

He exempted residents of these villages from the payment of Aabiyana and Maliya besides a relaxation in the payment of agri loans.

He announced that the provincial government would provide land at safe places to the people living in villages along the working boundary. He also announced a compensation of Rs100,000 for every martyr and Rs50,000 for each injured.

While talking to newsmen, the governor said the electronic and print media was playing it’s role in highlighting the Indian aggression and combating its media war against Pakistan.

Answering a question, he said it was high time for all the political and religious parties to be united and join hands with the government for strengthening the national defence.
