KARACHI, Feb 21: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Eric Johnson as assistant physiotherapist for the India-bound Pakistan team.

Johnson, an energetic and hardworking professional who had served the national cricket team with distinction between 1988 and 2001 on a number of occasions, will take up his assignment when he travels with the Pakistan squad for the seven-week tour on Feb 28.

Johnson's appointment, which was long overdue given his outstanding track record with both Pakistan senior and junior cricket outfits, is a wise step taken by the PCB which has recognized the local talent available in this specialized field.

Johnson, who is attached with the PIA sports department since 1988, was also instrumental in helping legend Jahangir Khan who brought Pakistan numerous internationals including the World Open and British Open.

The experienced physiotherapist has also the distinction of serving the Pakistan hockey team, helping it to clinch several titles in the past. Over the years Imran Khan, Miandad, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Saeed Anwar, Moin, Inzamamul Haq and many others had benefited from Johnson's expertise.
