Investment proposals discussed with PM

ISLAMABAD, Jan 18: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Tuesday said the government had provided enabling environment for investment and the current economic atmosphere in Pakistan provided immense opportunities for investors.

He was talking to Ronald Decorvet, Managing Director, Nestle Milk pak Limited, who called on the prime minister and apprised him about the future plans of investment of Nestle in Pakistan.

The prime minister highlighted the accelerated economic growth in Pakistan and added that the companies like Nestle had great potential to grow. The premier while highlighting special initiatives of the government in providing micro financing to the farmers and livestock sector to reach its true potential, said the government would provide more incentives to promote this sector.

Ronald Decorvet informed the prime minister that Nestle's investment in Pakistan had enhanced during the current year and its business had grown by 23 per cent, which was mainly focused on dairy products. He said Nestle Pakistan had undertaken numerous initiatives to educate the farmers for enhancing milk production.

Mr Decorvet also apprised the premier that keeping in view his initiative to improve the standard of living of the people and provide them clean drinking water, Nestle has installed 150 water pumps in Thar. He said that Nestle had also initiated a special study for helping the farmers in Thar area to increase milk production. -APP
