KARACHI, May 28: The Edhi Foundation has urged the PTCL to provide 115 emergency number facility on mobile phones.
The PTCL has provided emergency No 115 facility to the Edhi Foundation which can be dialled from any digital telephone for seeking help.
Since the mobile phone has become popular because of its accessibility, the facility of 115 on it has become a necessity as in case of an emergency it can be used quickly from the scene of an accident.
office ransacked: An ambulance-providing office of Edhi Foundation near old Sabzimandi in Gulshan-i-Iqbal was attacked by activists belonging to a religious group, an Edhi spokesman said on Tuesday.
He said that a road accident took place on Monday night and an Edhi ambulance available at the nearest Tariq Road Centre reached the site of the accident in 13 minutes. Nevertheless, a group of religious party activists attacked the Edhi Centre near the old Sabzimandi on University Road on Tuesday, broke its glasses and ransacked the office.
The spokesman said that a child was killed in the accident, who was taken to a hospital by an Edhi ambulance. The same religious group brought the body of the child to the Edhi Centre near old Sabzimandi again on Tuesday and staged a demonstration against the Edhi Foundation.
