KARACHI, Jan 13: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad on Thursday asked the concerned authorities to take steps for maintaining peace on the eve of Eidul Azha, especially with regard to collection of hides in the entire province.
He also asked the provincial Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui to devise a Code of Conduct in this regard after taking into confidence all the NGOs. He issued these directives at a high-level meeting held at the Governor's House, Karachi.
Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui, Home Secretary Brig. E Ghulam Mohammad Muhtaram, DG, Rangers, Maj-Gen Javed Zia, Additional IGP Asad Jehangir, CCPO Tariq Jamil and others attended the meeting.
The governor called for ensuring peace in the province, like the previous year, and stressed that such an atmosphere be created that the people could donate hides according to their own wish.
The meeting decided that any organization collecting hides of sacrificial animals shall have to seek permission from the respective DCO as otherwise nobody would be allowed to do this.
Moreover, no camp could be erected for collecting hides nor any receipt could be issued in advance. There shall also be a ban on door-to-door collection of hides and use of loudspeaker and hanging of banners.
The people would be free to send hides to any organization of their choice. The meeting further decided that there shall be a total ban on display of arms at public places and if apprehended along with weapons, the accused could only be freed after three days of Eid.
Governor Ibad stressed on effective enforcement of restrictions imposed with regard to collection of hides besides intensifying patrolling, ensuring smooth flow of traffic and sanitation at markets and residential areas during the Eidul Azha.
CRIME DEN: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has said that law and order would be maintained in every city and towns of province at all costs. Protection of life and property of people is the foremost priority of the government, he said while talking to officials at Governor's House.
Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui, home secretary and IGP Syed Kamal Shah were also present. IGP apprised the governor about the law and order situation in Sindh. Dr Ibad directed that operation against street crimes, gambling and narcotics dens and brothels in province should continue.
He said that an integrated operation for elimination of crimes and criminals should be made a routine practice instead of carrying out it as a weekly drive. The governor was also briefed about Asyia case and he directed that the ensure norms of justice be ensured without any discrimination.
The governor issued instructions for keeping the situation under control at cattle markets, places of worship and other spots on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. He also directed for implementation of an integrated programme for cleanliness before and after Eid and other arrangements. He hoped that people would cooperate fully for better arrangements on Eid compared to last year. -PPI
